After the dismissal of Bas Sibum, Krüzen led Heracles to competition victories over Go Ahead Eagles (4-2), Excelsior (1-2) and PEC Zwolle (8-2). Because of that series, the Almelo team (13 points) handed over the last place to Telstar (10 points). Next week, Ernest Faber will start as trainer and technical director at Heracles.
Heracles Almelo continues to amaze under interim coach Hendrie Krüzen
In Sittard, Krüzen’s team had little to say before half time. Fortuna could have taken a bigger lead, but only scored through Kristoffer Peterson. The former Heracles player who returned to the starting line-up finished after a through ball from Mohamed Ihattaren, who was also at the origin of many other threats from the home team.
After just under an hour, Jizz Hornkamp leveled the score for the visitors. The striker was more alert than goalkeeper Mattijs Branderhorst after a tight cross from Walid Ould-Chikh and scored his fifth goal in the last four competition matches. Philip Brittijn could have given Fortuna the victory, just like Ajdin Hrustic at Heracles.
Fortuna is eighth with 18 points.
