Henderson makes his debut in the top match against PSV

Jordan Henderson will make his first minutes for Ajax in the top match against PSV on Saturday evening. According to trainer John van ‘t Schip, the Englishman is fit enough to start in the starting line-up. Steven Bergwijn and Josip Sutalo are also back. Both players missed last week’s away match against Heracles Almelo.

There is a good chance that Sutalo will also be fit enough to kick off. The Croat must prevent Luuk de Jong from scoring.

With a fit Sutalo, Van ‘t Schip can shift with Devyne Rensch, who can play on the right and left in defense. “Then we have a little more options at the back,” said the Ajax coach, who would have liked to see an experienced defender come to Amsterdam last week. “But unfortunately that turned out not to be possible.”

Chuba Akpom is also training. He was sick in bed last week when Ajax won 2-4 against Heracles on the artificial grass. Nottingham Forest made another attempt to acquire the striker on Thursday just before the transfer market closed. But Ajax did not want to cooperate in a transfer.

Ajax had a fairly quiet transfer period. Jordan Henderson came over from Al-Ettifaq and Kian Fitz-Jim (Excelsior) and Julian Rijkhoff (Borussia Dortmund) are back in Amsterdam. Anass Salah-Eddine continues his career at FC Twente and Georges Mikautadze has returned to Metz.

Sivert Mannsverk will make his return to Jong Ajax next Monday. Branco van den Boomen’s return will take a few weeks.

The match between Ajax and PSV starts tomorrow evening at 8 p.m.
