In recent years, the old Kwaremont has often changed into a garbage dump after the Tour of Flanders. But this year the situation was better under control. This is partly due to the use of stewards, who encouraged the public during the course to deposit their waste in the provided garbage bags.
In addition, there were sufficient facilities to collect the waste correctly, which clearly paid off. Yet one persistent problem remains: cigarette butts. They are still thrown en masse on the floor and are difficult to clean up. The scouts from Lauwe and other volunteers helped to clean up the remaining waste after the race.
