Russia has imported parts of Heli Holland from Emmer-Compascuum, despite the sanctions against the country. According to NRC, the company did a shipment to an Indian trader, who then sent the things to Russia.
Russia was given sanctions after the raid in neighboring Ukraine, making their import more difficult. Through detours, the country still tries to get things for aviation, among other things.
Heli Holland says that it is not aware of any harm. According to director René van der Haring, Heli Holland has been trading with the Indian company for about five years. “Last September or October, that company received sanctions,” says Van der Haring. “The company transported Russian soldiers during the war in Ukraine.”
Van der Haring: “We didn’t know they were doing business with Russia.” According to the director, Heli Holland delivered a shipment with parts two months before the sanctions. Heli Holland has not been doing business with the company since. “We were actually done with it for a while. They keep calling and asking. It takes too much time and yields too little turnover.”
Since the measures against Russia, Heli Holland also ignores that country. Just before the Russian sanctions, Heli Holland would still send materials that way. “But that was no longer possible from that moment on. Those things are here with us in quarantine.”
Heli Holland has since also ceased shipments to countries such as Dubai, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Turkey. “Normally an order never comes from those countries and suddenly we were flooded.” Moreover, big money was offered, says Van der Haring. “For parts with a value of 44,000 euros, the price went around three times. That makes you think.”
