Hélène Hendriks will soon play Wendy van Dijkje on SBS 6, but runs a huge risk of disappointing viewing figures, thinks Tina Nijkamp. “Across from The Masked Singer!”
Wendy van Dijk was the show presenter of SBS 6 for years, but that channel hardly makes studio entertainment anymore. And now that John de Mol’s channel is bringing the program The Winner Takes It All back to the air, Wendy has been passed over and the new audience favorite Hélène Hendriks has been asked. And she said yes. All painful.
Wendy in the mood
What kind of show will this be exactly? Wilfred Genee asks her about it Today Inside. “You pushed Wendy to the curb with that, but more importantly: how exactly does it work?”
Hélène explains: “There are fifty singers in all kinds of genres. They stand on a large floor with all kinds of surfaces. When a surface lights up, they have to sing and duel with someone who is unique in their profession.”
‘Really not good!’
TV authority Tina Nijkamp sits at the bar and warns Hélène about the start date of her show. “January 3 is of course not good. No, that is not good. That is the final weekend of The Masked Singer. SBS 6 still has to change that.”
Johan Derksen: “They don’t think about anything anymore, Tina, since you left.”
Instantly
Wilfred Genee thinks it is an unfortunate premiere date. “I think there are a few people out tonight. They are out now, like: didn’t you know it was the night of The Masked Singer?!”
Johan: “John is currently typing an email.”
Tina: “Yes, it is better to start a week later, because you will never win this. The Masked Singer has 2 million viewers, so yes, you want a million with a first episode like that. I would say: SBS, just start a week later.”
