We haven’t seen Hélène Hendriks at the Today Inside table for a while, but she’s back tonight. Will she continue to lie and talk about Jack van Gelder or will she finally tell the truth?

© SBS

It is undeniably the biggest blunder of Hélène Hendriks’ TV career: lying and twisting about the departure of Jack van Gelder from her program. That attitude has caused a lot of damage to her image, because Jack was very popular among her right-wing conservative supporters. Only after more than a month did Wilfred Genee reveal that Jack was the culprit.

Four conversations

According to Wilfred, Jack has misbehaved behind the scenes several times and, according to him, four (!) conversations have been held about this. Hélène tried to keep this quiet all this time, making it seem as if she wanted him out of the show herself. Now it turned out that she just wanted to protect him in a very clumsy way.

Johan Derksen states that Hélène even tried to keep Jack on board despite everything. “However, they thought it was so important at Talpa that they did not consider Hélène’s opinion relevant, because Hélène would have liked to keep him there.”

Very unfortunate

TV authority Tina Nijkamp believes that Hélène should take matters into his own hands. “I think it could all have been prevented if the Talpa program management had simply acted more decisively. I think it’s a shame that that didn’t happen. I think it’s a shame for Hélène Hendriks anyway, because she started beating around the bush.”

Even now that Jack’s exit is final, she continues to spin a bit. She did not want to respond on camera at RTL Boulevard. Stupid, says Luuk Ikink: “Then you keep rubbing that stain! Now that reaction still needs to come.”

Hélène’s reaction

When does that reaction come from Hélène? Tonight, at 9:30 PM, in a new episode of Today Inside. And there the presenter will inevitably be confronted with the fact that her preference to put Rutger Castricum in Jack’s place is not really popular with the TV viewer.

In fact, only 16 (!) percent of Hélène’s viewers see Rutger in Jack’s seat, according to a poll on this site. Victor Vlam, nominated by Johan Derksen, is at the top with 68 percent. Valentijn Driessen follows in second place, put forward by Victor, with a score of 17 percent.
