Mediation did not produce results in Koivu’s legal saga.

Helena Koivu (pictured) and Mikko Koivu are now fighting in court for custody of their children. Anni Savolainen

Helena and Mikko Koivun mediation for the custody of their children has been decided.

The two tried to mediate the custody dispute, but both already announced at the hearing on March 10 that there are no conditions for mediation. In practice, this means that the duo won custody of the children next in court.

The custody dispute started in the District Court of Varsinais-Finland already in April of last year.

There has been a lawsuit between the birches for a long time, both in Finland and in the United States.

In November 2025, the District Court of Varsinais-Suomen convicted Helena Koivu of spying and breach of domestic peace. The Court of Appeal did not grant permission to appeal in the case with its decision last week. The victims of the acts were Mikko Koivu and his current spouse Natalie Koivu.
