Funnily enough, HLF8 has been on the rise somewhat since the decision to discontinue the program. For example, 457 thousand people (10 percent market share) watched the broadcast on the eve of SBS 6 yesterday. This even achieved a spot in the top 25 viewing figure, and that doesn’t often happen to the talk show.

Helen is talking

Heleen van Royen, who is regularly on television thanks to HLF8, is disappointed. “So sad that we have to stop. I love HLF8,” she says. “In the top 25 viewing figures yesterday with an average of 457 thousand viewers. Sam Hagens was also in the game. Who remembers the Cheers program? That’s what it feels like to be a guest at HLF8.”

Viewing expert Tina Nijkamp calls the ‘high’ score of HLF8 ‘very striking’. “Since the announcement to stop it has increasingly scored above 400 thousand viewers”, she writes.

‘Pretty crazy’

The well-known TV director Bert van der Veer regrets that HLF8 stops, he says . “Ten more broadcasts, right? Then the curtain falls. Road HLF8. Pretty crazy. Because is it the decision makers SBS failed to notice that the presentation trio was growing and managed to create the best atmosphere at the table.”

He continues: “They also failed to notice that many regular guests (Jack van Gelder, Mona Keijzer, Heleen van Royen) promoted recognizability and that a form had thus been found to not completely ignore current events and that the talk show regularly scored above 400,000?”

Personal suffering

As a viewer, Bert also regrets that the program is ending. “My indignation is fueled by personal anguish. Unless Khalid & Sophie had something to offer in the second half, I zapped to 6 and I was under the roof from 7:30 to 8:30.”

The most watched talk shows yesterday were Today Inside (908 thousand), Khalid & Sophie (662 thousand), Op1 (575 thousand) and Beau (569 thousand).
