Heidenheim starts without Dinkci

Bundesliga soccer team 1. FC Heidenheim resumed training on Monday without Eren Dinkci, who was ill. The loan from league rivals Werder Bremen is scheduled to travel to the training camp in Algorfa on Tuesday.

In icy winds and heavy rain showers, around 100 spectators watched the training on New Year’s Day. “After the players have completed a rigorous running and strengthening program individually over the last few days, it was important to us that we had a group session on the pitch before the training camp,” said coach Frank Schmidt.

The promoted team already collected 20 points in the first 16 games and surprisingly wintered in ninth place. “The break was extremely short this time. That makes it all the more important to get back into the rhythm quickly,” said Schmidt.
