Heavy thunderstorms mainly moved over the west of the province on Friday evening. In a short time a lot of rain fell, the wind blew hard and large hailstones came down. Festival Feest In Het Park in Tilburg had to stop earlier due to severe weather.

“Unfortunately, we had to evacuate due to extremely strong gusts of wind, thunder and lightning,” the organization wrote on social media. “We opted for safety and that is why we were not able to complete the last hour.”

According to the festival, the site in the Reeshofpark was quickly empty and the party can continue as usual for the rest of the weekend.

Already reports of nuisance
Places like Roosendaal and Bergen op Zoom were hit hard. There was heavy driving rain, or rain that was blown diagonally against houses and objects by the strong wind. There was also a lot of lightning visible and large hailstones fell.

Before the thunderstorms there was one in some places shelf cloud can be seen, such as in Etten-Leur. That’s a kind of flat cloud that looks ominous.

The first reports of fallen trees and flooding came in around half past nine.

Code orange withdrawn again
The KNMI had already issued a code orange for Limburg on Friday morning, but said that the warning could also apply in other provinces. This was because it was still uncertain this morning exactly where the showers would fall.

Other provinces also eventually received code orange. At the end of the evening, code orange was withdrawn for Brabant, Limburg and Zeeland.
