The accident happened when the two cars, which came from opposite directions, collided head -on frontally. The older lady drove towards Zuienkerke, while the young man was on the way towards Varsenare. Presumably the woman got rid of her lane, which led to the hard collision.
Both drivers were transferred to the AZ Sint-Jan in Bruges with an ambulance. The woman is seriously injured.
Takel cars are currently removing the heavily damaged vehicles, both of which are ripe for the scrap heap. The traffic is still hindered by the clean -up works.
