Pharmaceutist Leadiant has to pay a fine of € 17 million for excessively increasing the price of medicine CDCA, the judge ruled on Thursday. The court called the exorbitant price increase ‘a textbook example of abuse of an economic position of power’. But according to professor Carin Uyl-de Groot, the problem plays on a larger scale: “Health insurers pay millions more in medicines every year than necessary.”
