Gabbard personally briefed Trump today during a meeting in the Oval Office. In her resignation letter, which was viewed by the American news channel, she writes that she is “deeply grateful to the president for the trust” in leading the intelligence services over the past year and a half.
Her husband Abraham Williams faces “major medical challenges” in the coming months, it said. The couple has now been married for eleven years.

Upon her appointment, several senators wondered whether Gabbard was suitable for the position. A hearing in the Senate had then been difficult.
Gabbard served in Congress on behalf of the Democrats, but is now a loyal supporter of Trump. She recently came into controversy when it became known that she was directly involved in the search of an election office near Atlanta. The investigation revolved around alleged election fraud in 2020.
Trump writes on Truth Social that Gabbard has done a “fantastic job.” She will be replaced for the time being by her deputy director Aaron Lukas.
