Alone Finland In the penultimate episode of the program, the production weighs and interviews a pensioner Essa68. The scale reading shows 56 kilos, which means that Esa’s weight has dropped by eight kilos during the competition.

In the middle of the interview, Esa notices to his surprise that his Samoyed dog Igor comes to him.

After Igor, Esa’s acquaintance comes, who gives comforting words.

– I came on vacation to congratulate you. You won, Esa, you were the last.

The happy news brings Esa to tears.

– It’s not true, I have nets in the water. It’s unbelievable that I won.

The winner was awarded 20,000 euros. Esa says that the victory means nothing, but it brought the conditions for him to be able to help people and children.

– I also have my own background as a second-generation evacuee. Through my father, I am an immigrant from Petsamo. It’s still traumatic for me too, hopefully not for my son anymore, Esa says.

– I want to help war children in Ukraine so that no one would have to experience these generations-long traumas anymore, he adds.

Esa encourages people to go out and participate in different things, and not remain “couch potatoes”.

– Age is not an obstacle – illness is, but age does not affect anything. Everyone is young and newborn children inside, he concludes.

Esa from Utsjoki was the oldest participant in the competition. Esa, who is spending her retirement days, has solid experience in the wilderness of Lapland and Northern Norway, where she has hiked and fished.

In addition to fishing, Esa enjoys picking berries, building his wilderness hut, and painting. He said earlier in the announcement of the program that he never gets tired of nature, because it has been his best therapist.
