It is also not without reason that his son Rick Brandsteder was able to quit television to retire to Spain, where he now seems to live off the family fortune. Where do all those millions come from? Son of a millionaire
Many people don’t know that Ron was the son of millionaire Ton Brandsteder. He had a company that built televisions into cabinets and in 1960 came into contact with the Japanese Sony, which was then looking for a distributor for their products in the Netherlands. A year later, Brandsteder Electronics BV, and with it the importership, became a fact.
Sony became a gigantic brand worldwide and the entire Brandsteder family continues to benefit from this. “Ron Brandsteder no longer had to work for the money. After the death of his father in 1992, he inherited 21 million euros. But he continued to present until 2015,” weekly magazine Story previously reported.
Against the skirting boards
The money is still sloshing against the baseboards of Ron’s relatives. They have recently been busy settling his estate, he said Story now.
“Because Ron owned three homes at the time of his death, his widow Yvonne and her sons Rick and Bob, who is two years younger than his older brother, each owned a third of these properties, as shown by documents that Story could view.”
Three million euros
One of these, the marital villa on the Vecht in Breukelen, was recently sold for an amount of three million euros, even though it no longer had a mortgage. “This means that Yvonne, Rick and Bob can each add one million euros to their bank account!”
When? They will receive that amount on October 31, Story said. And then Rick is a million richer. A blessing or a curse? Perhaps the latter… “There are currently some concerns within the circle of friends about the influence of the more than generous inheritance on the addiction-prone Rick,” the magazine concludes.
