Kieran Culkin has a very good memory when it comes to his wife’s promise.
At the 97th Oscar Awards, Kieran Culkin won the award as the best supporting actor for his role in “A Real Pain”. In his acceptance speech, he humorously reminded of a promise from his wife Jazz Charton – and she is now sweating quite a bit.
“I have to thank my wife jazz, for absolutely everything, for the most beautiful people in my life. About a year ago I stood on a similar stage and unfortunately said publicly that I would like a third child because she said that if I win the price, she would give me another child. It turned out that she said that because she didn’t think I would win. After the show we went over a parking lot, she held the Emmy, and she said: ‘Oh god, I said that. I’ll owe you a third child. ‘ And I turned to her and said: ‘Actually I want four.’ And she said: ‘I’ll give you four if you win an Oscar.’ I haven’t mentioned this since then, until now. Do you remember it, honey? Then I only have the following to say: jazz, love of my life, you small believers. No pressure. I love you. I’m really sorry that I did that again. And let’s work on these children. What do you say to that?”
Jazz Charton, who was sitting in the audience, laughed and shook his head. The couple already has two children: daughter Kinsey Sioux, born in 2019, and son Wilder Wolf, born in 2021.
Kieran Culkin receives his first Oscar
In “A Real Pain” Kieran Culkin plays the charming but eccentric Benji, who, together with his cousin David (represented by Jesse Eisenberg), takes a journey through Poland to explore her Jewish roots. The film received praise for its humorous and profound examination of topics such as Jewish identity and family trauma. Culkin’s Oscar profit is the crowning glory after a very successful price rescue season in which he had already received the Golden Globe, the BAFTA and the Screen Actors Guild Award for the same role.
Kieran Culkin originally wanted to get out of the film project because he had concerns about being separated from his family for too long because of filming in Europe. Emma Stone, one of the producers of the film and Culkin’s ex-girlfriend, had convinced him to stay with it.
