He sniffed out the explosives depot – “Dynamite Timo” convicted by the dog!

By Anne Losensky

Fiffi had to go for a walk. Because dogs stick their noses in everywhere, he sniffed out a well-stocked explosives depot on a Spree canal – in the middle of Berlin!

April 7, 2020, Friedrich-Krause-Ufer (middle). The underground bunker is a bomb: one kilogram of PETN (Semtex, popular with terrorists), 50 grams of ETN (even more explosive). Traces of DNA on the plastic bags lead to Timo K. (37) in Pankow.

An old police acquaintance: Already in 2013, the oven flew around his ears while tinkering with explosives, so his DNA got into the file. Didn’t learn anything (I wanted to be a chef). Done nothing (most recently Hartz IV). drug problems. criminal record.

The Berlin Attorney General determined. Now “Dynamite Timo” is sitting in the dock of the Tiergarten district court. “I have a certain interest in chemistry,” he admits. Ingredients and recipes from the Internet. “Small experiments” in the forest. Why the bunker? “Didn’t want to throw anything away, it cost money and work!” The explosives used to be in the freezer compartment of his refrigerator…

Why was he cooking all this up? “Wanted to see if I could do it.” Was he trying to blow something up? “Nah.” And now? “Maybe I’ll steer my interest into productive channels in the future. I’m not totally crazy.”

At that time, he was released from prison after a few months. Had to report regularly to police station 33. On November 16, 2021, he marched out the front door and down the glass back door! According to the next indictment, he wanted to pry it open and steal the police e-bikes behind it (from 2,000 euros).

“It’s not true,” he says. “It was windy, I was just looking for shelter to take drugs.” Stupid: An attentive pedestrian (39) immediately reported to the station: “There’s someone tampering with your back door!”

The officials stormed around the house once and caught him. “When he raised his hands, a credit card flew into the bushes,” said a police officer (56). “He probably wanted to open the door latch with that.”

The verdict: 14 months in prison for the explosives, six months in prison for the attempted theft. “Dynamit-Timo” remains at large until it becomes law…
