“He should be on medication if possible”: Kiss bassist Simmons on Kanye West

Gene Simmons spoke about Kanye West’s anti-Semitic remarks in an interview. The Kiss bassist recommends the rapper take medication and surround yourself with positive people. West has long revealed that he has bipolar disorder.

On Oct. 20, Simmons, who is Jewish himself, was asked on the talk show Piers Morgan Uncensored if he thought Kanye West should apologize for his anti-Semitic remarks over the past few weeks. He replied: “I’ve never met Kanye West in person, but from everything I’ve heard he sounds very hurt – and that’s why he’s handing it out now. (…) I’m not a doctor, I don’t know Ye or Kanye. But if there are medicines, I advise the ‘gentleman’ to take them. If he’s surrounded by the wrong people, he should find nicer people.”

Simmons goes on to address the fact that both he and Kanye have experienced racism. It is all the more important to talk about such topics – and to draw attention to the fact that anti-Semitism happens every day.

Bandmate Paul Stanley criticized West’s tweets two weeks ago. The Kiss guitarist also referred to West’s bipolar disorder, but indirectly expressed that an illness should not be a reason for unfiltered public tirades.

That’s what Kanye West says about his racist comments

In the released episode of Piers Morgan Uncensored, West was asked if he would like to apologize to Jewish people for his statements. The rapper denied.

The rapper tweeted: “You know, I’m sorry for the people I hurt with my statement. I feel like I caused pain and confusion by doing this. I feel sorry for the families involved who had nothing to do with the trauma I had to go through myself. I was actually the injured person here.”

The tweet was later deleted.

In the past, West had repeatedly formulated right-wing opinions on Twitter. He later apologized for it. West continues to publish his critical tweets.
