HBL will probably be freely available soon

The new streaming provider Dyn Media promises plenty of Bundesliga handball without a payment barrier for the coming season.

According to Marcel Wontorra, who is responsible for the operational business at Dyn, free-to-air games will not only be available on Bild TV or ARD. Dyn himself is also planning a free channel. “You can’t hide a sport behind a paywall if you want to make it bigger,” said Wontorra at “Anwurf” on meinsportpodcast.de and also speaks of a “super Sunday” that should be available on Bild TV.

“70, 80 percent” of the commentator team would already be certain. But there will also be new faces. “We would like to have a Max of established faces from commentators and experts that the fan already knows, but we also want to build up new faces that exude a young dynamic,” said Wontorra.

Dyn is a joint venture with the Axel Springer Group. Christian Seifert, former chairman of the DFL management board, brought the project to life. The new platform has already acquired many rights in other sports and will also show handball games in the men’s Bundesliga from the 2023/24 season.
