HBL, handball: THW Kiel commits national players

Handball record champion THW Kiel has signed Elias Ellefsen a Skipagötu for the first time a player from the Faroe Islands.

As the THW announced one day after the success in the Supercup against the German champions SC Magdeburg, the 20-year-old national player will move from IK Sävehof in Sweden to Kiel on July 1, 2023.

Ellefsen a Skipagötu signed a four-year contract with the cup winners.

“Elias is one of the greatest talents in Europe in the center backcourt. He has a great understanding of the game and is creative,” said THW Managing Director Viktor Szilagyi: “We’re looking forward to him and are glad that our overall package was convincing.”

“THW Kiel is one of the biggest clubs in the world with an outstanding team. It’s a great honor to be part of it,” said the new signing, who was named the best player in the Swedish league last season.

Ellefsen a Skipagötu has made five appearances for his national team so far.
