SG Flensburg-Handewitt celebrated the 13th season victory in the handball Bundesliga on Saturday evening. The team of Neu-coach Aleš Pajović defeated VfL Gummersbach with 35:30 (16:14) in a game of levels.

Four days after the duel in the European League – the SG won 36:31 in Gummersbach – both teams did not perform well in the league game. The teams acted much too unfocused and hectic, especially on the offensive. At the SG, left wing Emil Jakobsen and back room player Simon Pytlick, who scored eight goals each, and goalkeeper Benjamin Buric with 13 parades.

For the Schleswig-Holsteiners, the European Cup game against Fenix ​​Toulouse will continue on Tuesday (6.45 p.m.), before going to the top game at the Füchsen Berlin the next Sunday (February 23, 3 p.m.). The Pajović team will have to increase significantly for this encounter.

SG catches up after stumbling block

Both teams struggled to find their rhythm from the start in the “Hell North”. Above all, it was playful inaccuracies that shaped the picture. After technical errors, the Flensburgers led 4-2 after ten minutes – VfL, on the other hand, 6: 4 to goals.

The Schleswig-Holsteiners gradually caught: after a long pass from keeper Buric in the 13th minute, to 8: 7, Jakobsen increased a minute later by seven-meter hammer to 9: 7 and captain Johannes Golla provided the first three -Tore leadership (10: 7, 15th).

Offensive game gets better

The Pajović team now had upper water, but continued to act too error on the offensive. So the game remained tight. However, because the Gummersbacher, led by strong international Julian Köster, did not let themselves be stuck. With 16:14 from the host’s point of view, we went into the break.

After all, the Flensburgers came out of it a little more concentrated. After a fast center, Jakobsen made the first three-goal lead of the SG in the second section (20:17, 36.). Now the game picked up speed, at least in phases, the offensive processes of both teams finally voted.

Møller with a strong final phase

After a loss of the ball of VfL, Pytlick switched quickly and served Johan Hansen with a fantastic diagonal pass deep from his own half. The 30-year-old sank the ball dry in the lower left corner (40th).

In the 47th minute, Pytlick banged the ball in the mesh for 28:23. The early decision? Not at all, because suddenly the Flensburgers acted agile again. The guests started a 3-0 run, Köster brought them back to two goals (28:26, 51.).

But then SG -Routinier tore Møller the game – and decided. Particularly spectacular litter at 34:30, a kind of blast throw in the trap that whizzes into the goal via Gummersbach’s keeper Bertram Obling (58.). The goal of the day reconciled a little for the otherwise bumpy game.
