HBL: Another setback for SG Flensburg-Handewitt

Handball Bundesliga team SG Flensburg-Handewitt suffered another setback in the fight for a place in the Champions League. The Rhein-Neckar Löwen only drew 29:29 (12:13).

The SG, where Hampus Wanne was the top scorer with eleven goals, is now three points behind Foxes Berlin in second place.

Since the Icelandic backcourt player Teitur Einarsson was out with a flu infection, SG coach Maik Machulla had to improvise once more.

The Norwegian Magnus Röd, who had previously completed a corona quarantine, played in defense, and Franz Semper took over in attack.

The injured playmaker Jim Gottfridsson was in the starting line-up but clearly had problems with his injured ankle.

The North Germans could rely on their goalkeeper Kevin Möller. In the first half alone, the Danish international made 16 of his 25 saves. At the beginning of the second half, Flensburg suffered the next personal setback when Aaron Mensing had to leave the field with a foot injury.

In an exciting final phase, Johannes Golla saved at least one point for the SG with the goal to make it 29:29.
