In the women’s field, Hailu already took off on the beach. She was joined by her compatriot Balemelay Shumet. About halfway through the race, at camping Bakkum, Hailu also shook off Shumet and then walked solo to the finish. It is her second victory in Egmond. She was also the best in 2019.
Nienke Brinkman made a surprising return among the women. The 2023 winner finished in fourth place as the best Dutch woman in 1.13.20.
