It seems that in our effort to beat back the coronavirus, we have also made a certain flu virus extinct. The influenza B/Yamagata virus has disappeared from the map since the spring of 2020. And that is good news for all of us: this could make flu vaccines more effective or cheaper. Why? And how sure are scientists that this flu virus is gone for good?
