The security of the Drents Museum was in order during the exhibition Dacia – Rich of gold and silver. That is what museum director Harry Tupan says. “All contractual agreements have been met.”

There was no security guard in the museum in the night of the burglary last weekend. “There are always guards during the day with us. We don’t have any guards at night, then there are other facilities. Moreover, a guard had not been certain his life,” Tupan said at the RTL4 talk show Renze.

Three gold bracelets and the golden helmet of Cotofenesti were captured in the art. These are Romanian archaeological treasures that were on loan from the National Historical Museum in Bucharest. After the robbery, a discussion about security broke out.

Tupan calls the Drents Museum ‘well secured’. “You make agreements in international loan traffic. That loan agreement has been approved by the insurer and both parties. The situation in Assen has been declared good for this.”

For the first time since Saturday’s press conference, Tupan told his story. The museum director says he is doing badly. “It is of course incredibly painful and sad that this happened to us. And it is even more painful for our colleagues in Bucharest and for the inhabitants of Romania.”

In Romania, the robbery has been reacted furiously. Tupan: “That is completely understandable. It is something so special that you as a Romanian society love so much, then I understand that they are displeased and sad. But we are also a victim of a criminal act.”

The burglars entered the museum by forcing an explosive door. Tupan states that this is a broader problem. “This is a completely different level that we have never had to deal with. It is of a new order for Assen and Dutch museums. We will have to do something with it, but what I don’t know.”

On Friday, the museum will open its doors again for the first time. The exhibition Dacia – Rich of gold and silver It is no longer visible, it would last until last weekend.

The police announced tonight that the perpetrators will probably come from Noord-Holland. It concerns at least three perpetrators. Several hammers and a crowbar were removed from the ditch at the Drents Museum, which may have been used in the burglary.

A burnt -out car was found by Rolde, the Gray Volkswagen Golf was probably the flight car. The police are also looking for a dark -colored Ford Transit that may be involved in the robbery.
