A Manchester United defender accelerated too hard while driving. Now Harry Maguire has to leave the car behind for a while.

The English international and Manchester United star Harry Maguire has to do without his driving license for several weeks. The British news agency PA reported this from a courtroom in Bolton, near Manchester.

Accordingly, the 31-year-old received a driving ban for 56 days because he was caught speeding several times. Among other things, he admitted to driving at 85 miles per hour (around 136 kilometers per hour) in a 50 mph zone. Just two days later he was flashed again. At that point he already had three points on his traffic offense register for an earlier incident.

In addition to the driving ban, the defender also has to pay a fine of more than 1,000 British pounds (around 1,260 euros). Maguire did not appear in court himself, but was represented by a lawyer.
