Albania made it difficult for the “Three Lions” to create scoring chances for long stretches. Then Harry Kane found a gap.

Team manager Thomas Tuchel made history with England and achieved the first perfect World Cup qualification by a European team. Thanks to a brace from Bayern striker Harry Kane (74th and 82nd minute), the “Three Lions” won 2-0 (0-0) in Albania, it was their eighth clean sheet win in their eighth game.

Never before had a European nation completed all games in a World Cup qualifying campaign that consisted of at least six games without losing a point or conceding a goal.

In Tirana, captain Kane made the decision late on; it was his international goals number 77 and 78 in his 112th international match. Coach Tuchel had changed his starting eleven to seven positions compared to the 2-0 win against Serbia three days earlier. Kane was there again from the start and promptly struck.

The next chance for a perfect World Cup qualification will come on Tuesday. European champions Spain have so far won five games from five games, scoring 19-0 goals. The last game is at home against Turkey.
