The use of Harry Kane in the upcoming Bundesliga game was in question. Now it is clear whether the Englishman will be used or not. Coach Vincent Kompany explains the decision.
Without Harry Kane, FC Bayern travels to the away game in Freiburg. The striker will be missing from Breisgau on Saturday afternoon, as coach Vincent Kompany confirmed at the German record champions’ press conference on Good Friday.
The attacker had previously injured his foot during training with the English national team and was therefore unable to play in the last international matches for the “Three Lions”. Now he is also out for Munich’s next game.
“Harry felt his ankle at some point with the national team, and that now has an impact on tomorrow’s game because he won’t be available,” said the Bayern coach. “I would have liked to have him there, but as of today that’s not possible.”
With a view to the upcoming Champions League duel against Real Madrid, Kompany remains cautiously optimistic. “Still, I’m rather positive about Tuesday,” said the Belgian.
Apart from that, his squad is “about what it needs to be before the big games”. The recently injured Manuel Neuer, Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies, Aleksandar Pavlović, Hiroki Itō and Jonas Urbig are ready for action, Kompany reported. As for “the minutes,” he hasn’t made a decision yet. “We’ll see who can start.”
