According to their spokesman in New York, Prince Harry and his wife Duchess Meghan almost suffered a serious accident because of press photographers. Accordingly, Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland was also in the car.

“Last night the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Mrs Ragland were involved in a near-catastrophic chase by a group of extremely aggressive paparazzi,” the spokesman said on Wednesday, according to British media.

“This relentless chase, which lasted more than two hours, resulted in several near misses with other drivers on the road, pedestrians and two New York City police officers.” There was initially no other source for the incident.

Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, died in a car accident in Paris in 1997 when she was being pursued by paparazzi. King Charles III’s son repeatedly makes fierce accusations in the tabloid press, and Harry is currently suing several publishers in London.

Sharp criticism of paparazzi behavior

“While public figures may encounter some interest from the public, it should never be at the expense of anyone’s safety,” the spokesman said. “The distribution of these images, given the manner in which they were obtained, encourages an extremely intrusive practice that is dangerous for all involved.”

Meghan received an award for her commitment to women and girls in New York on Tuesday evening (local time). It was the couple’s first public appearance together since Harry was alone at his father’s coronation in England.
