NoThey hadn’t been seen together since last December, when Harry and Meghan received a philanthropic award in New York. And during promotional efforts for the publication of Shoot, the prince’s memoir, the Duchess of Sussex had stepped aside, letting all attention focus on her husband. But she thought about the vip neighborhood of their villa in Montecito, California, with the party dedicated to her friend Ellen DeGeneres, to get them back together in public.

The party was organized by actress Portia De Rossi, 50, who wanted to surprise his wife Ellen DeGeneres, 65, with the renewal of their wedding vows (the two have been married since 2008). A party with a few illustrious guests, hosted in one of the halls of their new home in Montecito, a $70 million mansion very close to Harry and Meghan’s. Kim Kardashian’s mother Kris Jenner officiated the ceremony.

As shown by a video shot by a guest during the ceremony the Sussexes appeared on opposite sides of the hall – Harry, 38, standing with a glass in hand, and Meghan, 41, sitting. And they joined the applause of the other guests – all exceptional, including Jennifer Aniston and Katy Perry – when Portia De Rossi surprised Ellen DeGeneres by making her entrance in a wedding dress.
Hollywood (re)welcomes the Sussexes
The arrival of the invitation must have been greeted by the Dukes of Sussex with some relief. Lately, they had been snubbed by both the Obamas at Barack’s birthday party and Oprah Winfrey last week. And this had started speculation about a sudden Hollywood antipathy towards themafter the criticisms also received by the American media for the couple’s constant accusations against the Royal Family.

Meghan and Ellen, loyal friends
The friendship between Meghan Markle and Ellen DeGeneres was born in 2021, when the former actress was a guest on the neighbor’s chat show. For the occasion, the duchess had wanted to show her comedic talent, participating in a series of improvised sketches on the street and highly criticized by the British media, which had defined them not even suitable for a former Royal like Meghan. DeGeneres herself, giving her instructions remotely, had ordered her to drink from a bottle in public and meow like a kitten.
