The striker problem at Ajax seems to have been solved. After the injury of Brian Brobbey, Danilo was the only remaining number 9 in the selection of trainer Erik ten Hag. Sébastien Haller will probably get to that soon, because the Ivorian is eliminated from the Africa Cup tonight.

Ivory Coast played a 0-0 draw against Egypt in the quarterfinals. No goals were scored in extra time either, after which penalties had to be decided. Haller had already been substituted at that point. The Egyptians hit all five penalties, while Ivorian Eric Bailly was the only one to miss: 4-5.

Haller is available again for Ajax due to tonight’s elimination. The striker will probably return to Amsterdam next week. This season he has scored 22 times for the team from Amsterdam. Ten times it was in the Champions League and twelve times Haller was accurate in the Eredivisie. The attacker is the top scorer in both competitions.

Ajax will play the next (competition) match in eleven days. Heracles Almelo will be the opponent in the Johan Cruijff ArenA on Sunday 6 February.
