Deadline Day was on Monday. Hansa Rostock bagged another big deal.

There was some movement in the transfer market again on Monday, as the winter transfer window closed in the evening in most European countries. Hansa Rostock managed a historic deal because the third division club sold Ryan Naderi for a record sum.

The traditional Scottish club Glasgow Rangers confirmed the signing of the 22-year-old attacker late in the evening. The German-Czech has signed “a long-term contract”. According to information from Sky, Hansa Rostock will receive a guaranteed 5.5 million euros for the transfer, with bonus payments the sum could even rise to six million euros. On top of that, the Baltic Sea club is said to have secured a resale share of 20 percent.

With the transfer fee that is due under guarantee, Hansa sets a new record in the 3rd league. Never before has a player in the league moved for such a high sum. The previous record was held by Hendry Blank, who moved from Borussia Dortmund’s second team to RB Salzburg in the winter of 2024 for four million euros.

“The offer from Rangers Football Club has reached a dimension that a third division team cannot refuse,” said Rostock CEO Ronald Maul in a statement from the club. “Ryan Naderi is young, talented and has a great career ahead of him. He wants to take the opportunity to play internationally and prove himself on a big stage at a club like Rangers Football Club. We couldn’t and didn’t want to deny him this dream.”

Naderi moved from Borussia Mönchengladbach to Rostock in the summer of 2024 and has particularly taken off this season: in 18 games he scored eight times and prepared five more goals.
