Hansa Rostock: Assistant coach Uwe Ehlers becomes head of young talent

Internal solution

Second division club FC Hansa Rostock has found a new head of the youth department within its own ranks. The Mecklenburgers announced on Friday that the professional team’s previous assistant coach, Uwe Ehlers, will take over the position next year. Ehlers has been an assistant since the 2014/15 season and moved to the sidelines twice on an interim basis. Between 2020 and 2022, the Rostock native also looked after the U19s.

“I am very grateful for the almost ten years in which I was able to work as assistant coach of the professional team and proud of what we were able to achieve together as a team for the club – especially promotion to the second division. I am now looking forward to a new chapter at FC Hansa and the exciting and responsible task in the youth sector, which I am familiar with from various positions as a coach and, until recently, as the person responsible for the Hansa perspective players. Of course, it’s also an advantage that I already have a close connection to the entire junior team. I wish the coaching team and the players of the professional team all the best and much success!” Ehlers is quoted as saying. During his time as an active player, the former defender played 120 games (5 goals/3 assists) for FCH.
