Hannover 96 put the recent setbacks away and returned to the road to success in the 2nd Bundesliga thanks to a double strike against Arminia Bielefeld.

Christian Hornung

At 3: 1 (0: 1) on Sunday (28.09.2025) Joel Felix scored in the 35th minute for the guests, who were lucky that 96 awarded a penalty. But in the 53rd and 55th minute, Husseyn Chakroun and Hayate Matsuda turned the game. In the 90th minute, Boris Tomiak then made the decision from the penalty point.

Hannover Tititz is happy: “We rewarded us”

Hannover coach Christian Titz then said the sports show: “We were already dominant in the first half, but we went off the pitch. But we stayed calm and continued our football – we rewarded ourselves for that.”

His colleague Mitch Kniat was annoyed: “There were ten minutes in which we were not there – we lost the game. We don’t have to worry, but of course we can’t make it so easy for the opponent at the goals.”

A lot of pressure from Hanover – but the guests take the lead

The Hanoverians were noted from the kick -off that after the 0: 3 against Hertha and the 2-2 with ten Dresdners, they were at reparation. The 96 fans were already cheering in the 5th minute, but the supposed 1: 0 by Benjamin Källmann was collected by the Var because of a barely recognizable offside position in the creation of the scene – a very dubious decision.

Christian Titz’s team stayed on the trigger, but sometimes the attacks were not consistently played out, sometimes the degrees were too imprecise.

Hanover’s Tomiak does not shoot and know the penalty rule

The guests took the lead more than surprisingly after Monjuh Momuluh was not disturbed on his cross and Felix headed the ball into the fall in the fall.

Shortly before the change of sides, the equalization was actually false, but Boris Tomiak failed twice: at first he spooned a penalty slightly arrogant to the crossbar, then he also took the rebound himself with his head – apparently he did not know the rule that forbids this.

Bielefeld leads and is countered

But Hanover did not let himself be discouraged, pushed further after the break – and was rewarded twice within two minutes. The Bielefelders were initially far too far according to their own standard and had no protection when 96 keeper Nahuel Noll hit the ball for chakroun. Lebanese approached Jonas Kersken alone and gave the Arminia goalkeeper no chance with an elegant lupfer.

Then Bielefeld wobbled and, shortly after the compensation, had no assignment when Hayate Matsuda was completed. Its first attempt was still blocked, but he also got the margin and Kersken was beaten again.

Bielefeld’s Corboz awards the equalization

After that, the hosts could have decided the game. Arminia opened the cover more and more, but Hanover always ended the counterattack too sloppy. That would have taken his leg meal after 70 minutes, but Mael Corboz got into a reserve in his great opportunity to compensate for and thus aimed next to the goal.

It was only in the 90th minute that the Hanover was allowed to go to the party mode: Isaiah Young fed to a body decree of Rochelt and grabbed him in the penalty area. The due penalty grabbed Tomiak again – and this time he decided against the Panenka style and unsustainably transformed into the left corner by low shot.
