“We didn’t plan for him anymore. He has to put up with it,” said Hannover coach Christoph Dabrowski about Patrick Twumasi after the 27-year-old striker was not transferred on Deadline Day. Three days later, however, the Lower Saxony found a buyer for the Ghanaian: Twumasi will play for Maccabi Netanya in the future, where he has signed a contract until 2023 with an option for another year.
Twumasi still had a contract on the leash until 2023. With a rumored annual salary of around 1 million euros, he was one of the best earners in the Red squad. The attacker is considered fast and good at shooting, but has deficits in defensive work – he played a total of 24 second division games under Kenan Kocak for 96 (three goals, two assists), but under his successors Jan Zimmermann and Dabrowski he was no longer able to play. At the beginning of January, he was released from the training operations of Lower Saxony, in the course of which he had, among other things publicly criticized the club’s media department via Instagram.
Hannover sports director Marcus Mann said in a club statement: “Patrick hasn’t had an easy time in Hannover lately. We are delighted that he has had the opportunity to play regularly again and wish him all the best for the future.”
