The Lower Saxony Sender between Hannover 96 and Eintracht Braunschweig has been interrupted several times. Fireworks and tennis balls flew to the field.

The duel of the Lower Saxony rivals between Hannover 96 and Eintracht Braunschweig was interrupted on Sunday after a short time. Fireworks and firecrackers flew to the field of Heinz von Heiden Arena in Hanover from the tenth minute. Referee Matthias Jöllenbeck initially sent the teams to the replacement benches.

Meanwhile, smoke swaths pulled through the arena. Spectators threw more fireworks on the lawn. The stadium spokesman spoke up and noted that igniting pyrotechnics endanger the continuation of the game. Employees of the Hanoverians removed the objects thrown on the lawn.

After an approximately five -minute break, referee Jöllenbeck released the game again. The next incident followed in the 25th minute: tennis balls flew from the spectator area to the green area. When Jöllenbeck kicked off the game again, further tennis balls immediately ensured the next interruption. To this end, the trailers presented a banner with the inscription: “Gesture quota are not your game ball.” The reasonable rhythm of play was out of the question in the first half hour.

Overall, however, it remained unusually quiet in the ranks of the Hanoverian arena for a derby with a view to the mood. The active Braunschweig fan scene had already called for the boy’s boycott in advance. The background is the new partial exclusion of the guest fans, to which the banner presented also refers.

As in the first leg, only 60 percent of the guest company engineer could be exhausted. Even before the game, there were numerous protests. So also at the Braunschweig carnival when Lower Saxony’s Interior Minister Daniela Behrens got the resentment of the fans. She had significantly supported the decision to enforce the partial exclusion and even spoke out for a complete fan exclusion last year.
