Handball: Women’s Bundesliga – Thüringer HC takes over the top of the table

As of: 09/24/2022 9:17 p.m

The women’s handball team at Thüringer HC took the lead in the Bundesliga with their third win in three games. You are now level with Borussia Dortmund at the top. The BVB women are also still without a loss.

The THC women won on Saturday evening (September 24th, 2022) after a sovereign performance with 38:27 (17:12) at TuS Metzingen.

In the last ten minutes of the first half, the Thuringian women were able to extend a 10:12 deficit (20th minute) into a more than clear 17:12 lead, despite being repeatedly outnumbered. The goals of the very active Anika Niederwieser as well as the insecurities and the bad luck of the “Tussies” from Metzingen, where Dagmara Nocun alone failed several times at the gate rods, helped.

Sure thing in the second half

In the second half, the THC finally found its own rhythm and kept the TuS permanently at a distance. Especially in the final quarter of an hour, the guests made the playful difference clear again when they broke up the Metzingen team with a 2:8 run. However, the best shooter of the game came from the hosts in the person of Dagmara Nocun, who scored eight times despite her many post-smashes. At THC, Sonja Frey and Anika Lott were the most successful with seven goals each.

Sprengers towers over in sovereign BVB victory

Under interim coach Andreas Kuno, who replaced André Fuhr, who was released last week, BVB achieved their third win in the third game on Saturday with a 28:22 (15:12) against the previously unbeaten HSG Bensheim/Auerbach.

Despite good throwing opportunities, the Dortmund team failed again and again in the early stages due to the brilliant HSG goalkeeper Helen van Beurden.

Even after the change of sides, BVB didn’t really get into trouble at first and instead extended the lead with a 4-1 run at the beginning to 19:13 (41st). The “flames“but immediately fought their way back up to 16:19 with three goals in a row (45th).

Dortmund didn’t let that deter them and immediately took the lead again with seven goals (25:18/53.). With that, the game was decided. The top scorer of the game was Dortmund’s Sprengers with nine goals.

Blomberg-Lippe with clear success in Zwickau

HSG Blomberg-Lippe prevailed in a similarly clear manner at BSV Sachsen Zwickau. With the 34:28 (20:13) away win, the Lippe women got their second win of the season in the third game and moved up to fifth place.

Leverkusen give up their first win of the season

Previously, Bayer Leverkusen had not managed to get past 28:28 (17:10) at Buxtehuder SV despite a clear half-time lead and thus missed their first win in the third game of the season.
