Germany’s handball players are completing their European Championship qualification in Hamm. The German Handball Association (DHB) announced this on Thursday. In the game on April 12th, national coach Markus Gaugisch’s team will face Belgium, kick-off is at 6 p.m.
“With the conclusion of the EHF EURO Qualifiers in Hamm, a very special international season for our women’s national team ends with the highlight of the silver medal at the home World Cup,” said DHB sports director Ingo Meckes: “We are therefore pleased to be able to play one last time before the summer break in front of our fans, who supported us in every home game. In terms of sport, the goal against Belgium is definitely a win at the end of the European Championship qualification, so that we can head towards the EHF with a good feeling EURO can go.”
In Hamm, the DHB selection won seven of nine international matches. The team last celebrated a 39:13 win against Greece in the 2023 World Cup play-offs. Before the home game there are two more games against Slovenia in March and the away game in North Macedonia at the beginning of April.
After two wins, Germany leads qualifying group 3. The European Championships will take place from December 3rd to 20th in Poland, Romania, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Turkey. The draw for the final round will take place on April 16th in Kattowice.
