Handball national coach Monique Tijsterman has to leave after a disappointing World Cup

The handball players have to look for a new national coach. The interim period of Monique Tijsterman, who started four months ago, will not be extended.

“I am proud that I was given this great opportunity and knew in advance that this was a temporary job,” says the 52-year-old from Amsterdam after her departure. After the disappointing Olympic Games, Emmanuel Mayonnade left as national coach for the handball players. The Dutch Handball Association appointed the Tijsterman.

With Tijsterman at the helm, the Orange did not manage to get through the group stage at the World Cup in Spain. The reigning world champion was eliminated by Norway.

It is still unknown who will be Tijsterman’s successor.

NH Sport recently made the report below about Tijsterman.
