Handball: Magdeburg celebrates the next CL victory

Two games, two wins: The SCM made a dream start in the CL

The German handball champions SC Magdeburg also won their second group game on their comeback in the Champions League.

In the first premier class home game in almost 17 years, the team coached by Bennet Wiegert RK Zagreb dominated and took the lead in Group A with a 35:25 (17:12).

Right winger Tim Hornke shone as the best thrower with eleven goals. Csaba Leimeter was Zagreb’s top scorer with five goals. A week after the successful start at Dinamo Bucharest (30:28), the SCM found themselves well into the game against the Croatian champions and were in the lead from the twelfth minute (6:5).

The evening before, THW Kiel suffered a surprising setback in Group B on the international stage. The German record champions lost 36:38 to the Slovenian champions RK Celje.
