The handball players of SG Flensburg-Handewitt made the direct move into the quarter-finals of the European League perfectly. With the 32:30 (16:16) home success against VfL Gummersbach, the Schleswig-Holsteiners secured the group victory.

The Flensburger will bypass the play-offs and are only internationally deployed on April 22nd and 29th when the games are in the round of the last eight. There the SG is dealing with the winner of the encounter Benfica Lisbon (Portugal) against Gog Gudme (Denmark).

Final Four in Hamburg in May

The final tournament of the European League will take place again in Hamburg on May 24th and 25th. Last year the SG won the title in the Hanseatic city. In the Bundesliga, the Flensburgers are again challenged on Saturday (7 p.m.) in the away game near Frisch on Göppingen.

Jakobsen Best SG Verfer

It was a hard work for the team of coach Aleš Pajović against well -placed Gummersbacher. Both teams had a 60-minute, open exchange of blows. The VfL was in the lead at the beginning of the final phase with two goals. Then the SG achieved a 5-0 run that decided the game.

Goalkeeper Kevin Möller parried strongly several times, Emil Jakobsen with eight goals was the best thrower for Flensburg. On the side of the Gummersbacher, Miro Schluroff protruded with ten goals.
