The cup is said to have its own laws – and that also applies to handball: Bundesliga teams only get involved in round three. And that has now been drawn, together with the 2nd round.
In round three there are four Bundesliga duels: THW Kiel – HSG Wetzlar, TBV Lemgo Lippe – Frisch Auf Göppingen, HC Erlangen – Füchse Berlin, TVB Stuttgart – ThSV Eisenach. This is a result of the draw in Cologne on Wednesday (08/30/2023). In the second round, only lower-class teams compete against each other.
Due to the new cup mode, 15 teams in the Bundesliga will only enter in the third round. The top three of the Final Four of the previous round (Rhein-Neckar Löwen, SC Magdeburg, SG Flensburg-Handewitt) even start in the cup in the round of 16 in December.
