“We’re getting ready to do it”, confirmed HBL managing director Frank Bohmann of the dpa. The introduction can then be decided at the next HBL shareholders’ meeting, which is planned for July 7th and 8th.
In action at the European Handball Championship
Both tools are currently being used at the European Championships in Hungary and Slovakia. The video evidence can be taken by the referees, for example to decide on a red card. With the buzzer the coaches can take a time-out directly without having to inform the referee beforehand.
“It will cost money and change the format”, said Bohmann and is also aware of changes in TV broadcasts due to the video evidence. For the 57-year-old, however, one thing is certain: “It’s not rocket science.”
