With the longest-serving trainer and a well-rehearsed team, TBV Lemgo Lippe goes into the new handball season, which should go as successfully as the past.
With good results in the last test games before the season, the handball players of the TBV got the finishing touches for the new season now beginning. A winning victory against Liga competitor MT Melsungen was among them. In addition, a good second place in the heavily occupied Wartburg Cup with successes against the host league competitor THSV Eisenach and Skanderborg AGF from Denmark.
Vice master Magdeburg at the start
One of the few defeats in preparation was against SC Magdeburg. Those Magdeburger are now the first opponent at the start of the series next Friday (29.08., 8 p.m.) – a real chunk. With the support of their own fans, the Lipper definitely want to make it more difficult for the runner-up than in the 28: 34 defeat in Eisenach.
In any case, the anticipation is big with the TBV. “We look forward to the home game against Magdeburg,” TBV coach Florian Kehrmann looks ahead.
Service provider Extend contracts
For Kehrmann it is already the eleventh season opening as head coach, so he is the longest -serving trainer in the Handball-Bundesliga. But it is not only on this post that the TBV focuses on continuity.
Since December 2014 on the TBV command bridge: Florian Kehrmann
While it is still open whether Kehrmann will remain at the TBV beyond the summer of 2026, the traditional club volume four service providers in the long term. In addition to Tim Suton (until 2030) and goalkeeper Constantin Möstl (until 2028), Routinier Bobby Schargen (until 2027) and Hendrik Wagner (until 2029) have extended their contracts during the summer break.
Changes only in the circle
The TBV team remains largely together. The club only made changes on the circle. For Jan Brosch (ASV Hamm-Westfalen) and Leos Petrovsky (SV Oberlosa), the experienced Adam Nyfjäll (GWD Minden) and Joel Wilecke (Suhr Aarau) were hired.
In addition, the Dormagen youth Linus Borreck is the third goalkeeper and the highly talented Jan Mudrow (from MTV Braunschweig), son of the former TBV coach Volker Mudrow. The only downer: The 18-year-old suffered a cruciate ligament tear in preparation And will be missing from the team for several months.
High loading of the arena
For the fourth time in the past five years, the team has taken up a single -digit place in the table – this is also based on the budget of the squad, which claims to be located in the lower third of the league. This is rewarded by the fans. The home games visited 4,300 spectators in the 2024/25 season – an occupancy rate of 95 percent.
“A lot depends on us. Therefore, it remains a fragile structure. We have to stay humble at the beginning of the season and look down. Everything in the single -digit area is a bonus for us,” Managing Director Jörg Zereike told the magazine “Handballwoche” and does not want to know anything about planning for the international business. Incidentally, Zereike has also been working in the club for 15 years.
Confirmation of eighth place as a goal
The TBV managers don’t make a large brimborium out of the season goal. Confirmation of a good eighth place last season (39:29 points) is the requirement. A successful start against SC Magdeburg on Friday would be a first step there.
