SC Magdeburg remains the measure of all things in the handball Bundesliga. Meanwhile, SC DHfK Leipzig gave up their first win of the season in Stuttgart late.
SCM makes everything clear early on
SC Magdeburg has consolidated its lead in the Handball Bundesliga with another sweeping win. The Champions League winner easily won against Frischauf Göppingen 37:26 (22:12), and the match was practically decided by halftime. The guests from Baden-Württemberg were only able to keep the game open for about six minutes. The SCM then picked up the pace and took off in no time. Five time penalties for Göppingen in the first half were additional evidence that the pace was far too high for the guests in this phase.
The Magdeburg team’s best thrower was Swedish backcourt player Felix Claar with seven goals, all of which came in the first half. In goal, Sergey Hernández Ferrer excelled with twelve saves in the first 30 minutes. Daniel Petterson scored his 500th Bundesliga goal for the SCM. The SCM celebrated its 13th win in the 14th game of the season and is still only one minus point.
The handball players of SC DHfK Leipzig have once again missed a breakthrough in the bottom of the table. Coach Frank Carstens’ team narrowly lost to TVB Stuttgart 32:33 (17:14).
SC DHfK Leipzig got into the game well after the throw-off – Tom Koschek’s goal gave the Saxons their first lead (1st). After a few technical errors from the guests, the home team was able to play better – Jakob Nigg made it 4-2 in the eighth minute. However, Frank Carstens’ team did not allow the home team to take more than a two-goal lead and became stronger and stronger as the game progressed – Franz Semper in particular turned up the heat and scored a total of six goals in the first 30 minutes – SC DHfK went into halftime with a three-goal lead – 17:14.

The Swabian hosts came out of the break well and made it a 19:19 draw after five minutes in the second period thanks to Lenny Rubin. But the Saxons always stayed in the game, fought back and took a three-goal lead through Lucas Krzikalla – 20:23 (39th). In the final phase, SC DHfK came under pressure with two time penalties – Ivan Snajder gave Stuttgart the lead in the 55th minute – 31:30. In the end, the Saxons couldn’t come back and unfortunately lost the game 32:33.
