Handball Bundesliga – Lübbecke against Minden: All or nothing in the Mühlenkreis derby – handball – sport

A win can make a difference – for both of you

“It will be a game of nerves,” says GWD trainer Frank Carstens. Both teams are separated by just two points. If minden at the bottom wins the game, it would overtake the local rivals. No wonder Carstens says: “It’s an important week for us.”

Neither of the two traditional clubs is having a good phase. Neither have won since December, TuS even lost the last seven games altogether. VAbove all, the 22:29 last time at HC Erlangen was sobering. But coach Emir Kurtagic is certain: “We analyzed and worked through everything.”

Returnees encourage Minden

Minden’s form was at least rising recently. The top clubs SG Flensburg-Handewitt (31:31) and Rhein Neckar Löwen (31:33) stood up to GWD over long stretches and was particularly strong on the offensive. In addition, with the long-term injured Max Staar, Max Janke and Mats Kortesei, three players who have recently returned are expanding Minden’s options.

However, the first leg went to Lübbecke with 23:18. TuS’s only away win this season. But now it’s going to be on the record in front of 1,600 fans in the local arena. And Lübbecke has already shown what it is capable of this season. In October record champion THW Kiel was sent home with 29:25.

The “Red Devils” could use a similar performance against the Green-Whites. Then an important milestone in the fight for relegation would be achieved – and of course for dominance in the mill district.
