Victory with a twelve-goal lead: The Füchse Berlin remain the first pursuer of table leader Melsungen in the handball Bundesliga after the win against Lemgo. The THW Kiel had previously provided an exclamation mark.
The Füchse clearly won in their own hall against TBV Lemgo with 33:21 (16:11). The best Berlin throwers were Lasse Andersson, Mathias Gidsel and Tim Freihöfer with six goals each.
The hosts started with a lot of speed and commitment. So they took the lead right from the start. The defense in particular worked well and repeatedly forced Lemgo into unfavorable shots. After just under nine minutes, the Foxes were already 5-1 in the lead.
This time there was no collapse after half time
But then the Berliners also made some mistakes and lack of concentration. They had a particularly difficult time offensively against the aggressive Lemgo defense. The lead dwindled back to 7:5 in the middle of the first half. But the foxes remained calm. Andersson converted a direct free throw to take a five-goal halftime lead.
In contrast to the East derby last Sunday against Magdeburg, when the Berliners squandered a six-goal lead after the break, they further extended their lead and secured the decision early on.
Lions beat Flensburg
In a highly exciting game with constant leadership changes after the break, the Rhein-Neckar Löwen defeated SG Flensburg-Handewitt with 31:29 (15:14). It was only in the final phase that Mannheim moved ahead from 27:26 (56th minute) to 29:26 (59th). In the table, the North Germans fell back to sixth place with 19:9 points. For the Lions, national player Sebastian Heymann had to leave the field early with a foot injury.
Victory against Hannover-Burgdorf – an exclamation mark for Kiel
The injury-plagued Kiel team celebrated a start-to-finish victory on matchday 14 and moved up to fourth place in the table with 20:8 points thanks to a score of 28:24 (18:12). After the defeat, Hannover-Burgdorf fell back to third place with a record of 22:6.
Duvnjak and Wolff are extremely strong for Kiel
The two veterans in the Kiel jersey earned top marks: Domagoj Duvnjak scored seven goals, Andreas Wolff made 14 saves in goal (38 percent catch rate). Winger Marius Steinhauser scored eight times for Hannover-Burgdorf, while national player Renars Uscins was pretty unlucky this time with three goals in nine attempts.
Magdeburg Offensive fireworks against Gummersbach
A little earlier in the evening, SC Magdeburg prevailed in the pursuit duel against VfL Gummersbach and set off offensive fireworks in the process.
The Magdeburgers won 37:28 (21:15) and are now in fifth place in the table, three points ahead of VfL, who made too many mistakes and a defense that was too holey to really put the fast hosts in danger.

Zehnder outstanding – Bergendahl injured
The outstanding goalscorer was Manuel Zehnder, who scored twelve goals from 15 attempts. The eleven goals from Gummersbach’s seven-meter shooter Milos Vujovic didn’t help either. It was only in the middle of the second half that the Gummersbachers were close, when they turned a 16:24 into a 22:26 – but then Bennet Wiegert’s team tightened the reins again and pulled away again. Bitter for the SCM: Circular Oscar Bergendahl apparently seriously injured his foot after just 90 seconds and is likely to be out for a long time.
Melsungen remains league leader
MT Melsungen remains at the top of the table and didn’t have much trouble in the 35:28 (17:12) win against HSV Hamburg. Four Melsung players scored five goals. With 24:4 points, coach Roberto Garcia Parrondo’s team remains at the top.
