Handball: Bad news for Bietigheim captain Snelder

Bad news in preparation: After the historic 2021/22 season, the German handball champion SG BBM Bietigheim will have to do without captain Danick Snelder for large parts of the coming season.

The Netherlands international is out “indefinitely” with cartilage damage in her knee. This was announced by the four-time title holder last season on Saturday.

“Danick is irreplaceable in sporting and human terms because she is incredibly valuable for the team and the club,” said sports director Gerit Winnen, who reacted immediately to the loss. The Danish line runner Annika Meyer comes to Bietigheim from Thüringer HC. “A dream player,” said Winnen: “She embodies a complete player with incredible will, a high understanding of the game and flexibility.”

The Bundesliga season starts for Bietigheim on September 7th. The aim is to defend the titles in the championship, in the cup and in the Supercup. In addition, last season’s European Cup winners, who won 53 competitive games in a row, start in the Champions League.
