Hagrid actor Robbie Coltrane’s cause of death has been determined

Robbie Coltrane, best known for his role as Hagrid in the Harry Potter films, passed away on October 14. With the published death certificate, his cause of death has now also been made known.

The certification listed several illnesses that the actor must have suffered from. These include diabetes, blood poisoning and obesity. Ultimately, multiple organ failure was named as the reason for his death.

The Harry Potter cast mourn the loss of Coltrane

Not only fans, but also colleagues mourn the loss of the Hagrid actor: Emma Watson in an Instagram story: “Robbie was the funniest uncle I’ve ever had, but most of all he was very caring and compassionate to me as child and as an adult. His talent was so huge that it made sense that he played a giant.”

Daniel Radcliffe in a statement to People magazine: “He was an amazing actor and a lovely human being.”

Rupert Grint on Instagram: “It breaks my heart that Robbie has passed away. I will never forget his smell of cigars and beard wax – a wonderful combination. No one else could have played Hagrid but you, Robbie. The way Hagrid was portrayed in the books and movies was Robbie in real life. Warm, heartfelt and fun. A man with a huge heart who still cared for us all years later. (…)”
