Haarlemse Duinwijck for the 28th time national champion badminton

The badminton players of Duinwijck became national champions today. The final for the national title against DKC from The Hague was won 5-1. It is already the 28th time that the formation from Haarlem has been crowned best in the Netherlands.

Duinwijck started the final battle very strongly in the atmospheric Maaspoort in Den Bosch. Both the men’s and women’s doubles were won, making it 2-0 for the team from Haarlem.

Aram Mahmoud then caused a resounding surprise on behalf of Duinwijck by beating Olympian Mark Caljouw. Because Chloë Mayer and Gayle Mahulette also won their single matches, Duinwijck reached the unbridgeable total of five points.

It also meant extension of the national title for Duinwijck.
